Enxhi Qemalli
I saw it in his eyes,
a deceiving look,
a destructive smile.
His puppet and
the world his toy.
Toys, he played with till
they broke even her.
But she opened her painted
blue eyes, broke her
strings, and freed herself.
The strings became dark strands,
her painted dress, one of silk,
her shoes made of satin.
Then she danced, and him with her.
Him her puppet till... he...broke.
